Britton Tolliver
Fixed Illusion
October 22 - November 20, 2010

Tolliver is known for creating vividly colored panels that build up the surface with many planes of plastic color. The interaction of these layers - some opaque, some transparent - provide for varying physical and formal relationships, which stem from a hazy, reductive form of symbolism. Tolliverʼs self-imposed and structured approach to picture making employs a rigid system of circles, lines, and squares to achieve a rationale directed towards alternative possibilities.
